Academic Work
I am a Professor at the Metropolitan Autonomous University at the Xochimilco Campus in Mexico City. There I teach at the Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science School at the undergraduate level as well as at the graduate level in the Masters program in Agricultural Science. In the undergraduate program, I teach Animal Breeding in the Ruminants Module and occasionally I collaborate in the Dairy Science Module. At the Agricultural Sciences Masters program, I lead two modules where we revise the statistical methods employed in Agricultural Science. These statistical methods reviews range from the very basic to multiple regression and experimental design.
I conduct research on Evolutionary Biology (sexual selection) and on various other topics regarding animal and vegetable production. I focus mainly on subjects related to genetics and animal production. I belong to the Mexican National System of Researchers (Level II) from theMexican National Science and Technology Council.
Additionally I conduct research along with researchers from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), the University Autonomous of Guanajuato as well as the Autonomous University of Tamaulipas.
Since March of the year 2003 I’ve been coordinating a program in the genetic improvement of Pacific White Shrimp for a Mexican hatchery,Maricultura del Pacífico S.A. de C.V.
